  1. On NYTimes.com, the article I read "U.S. Crime Rates Fell Despite Economy" by Charlie Savage. All this time I thought the crime rate was increasing as time past, so the title caught my eye. Crime rate is actually decreasing. In fact, the crime rate has not increased since 2006. The crime rate is including crimes like murder, rape, or theft. Each crime has dropped. For example, in New York the reported crimes in 2009 was about 2,000 less than the reported crimes in 2008. Last year, violent crimes decreased by 5.5 percent. Also, property crimes decreased by 4.9 percent. In rural areas and populated cities, most crimes are decreasing, but murder is actually increasing. Overall, the crime rate is thankfully decreasing as the years go on.

  2. The Article's title is "U.S. Is a Top Villain in Pakistan’s Conspiracy Talk." In this article, NY Times discuses Faisal Shahzad, who planted the very popular failed Times Square bomb. However, the Supreme Court in Pakistan says the culprit was an American "think tank," or an organization that is supposed to think of solutions for problems in its country. This seems like a plausible accusation since mostly all of the American policies towards Pakistan are kept in secret. A star on Pakistani television, Zaid Hamid, has very strong opinions on this issue. He believes India, Israel, and United States are joining together to "destroy Pakistan." Accusing Faisal Shazad for planting this bomb (if it is just an accusation) would be one of the things that would back up Hamid's beleif.
